All our lives we’ve heard that we’re “made in the image of God”. But do you, Beloved, know what God is saying here? I know many people say it freely. In fact, they say it most when they are in need or in trouble, but they don’t know what they are saying. Let me explain.
“Made in the image of God” carries a BIG, BIG responsibility with it. The truth is, we are not God, but we are godlike.The Bible says:
So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.
And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth. (Genesis 1:27-28)
My beloved, God gave us dominion over the earth and we have His Spirit to guide us. Every human possesses spiritual abilities and capacities. We are more than the sum of our physical parts. We are too much focused on our physical selves and physical things — new car, new house, new fashion — that makes us forget the fact that we are spiritual. Our spiritual nature, though invisible, is as real as our physical nature. The nurturing of our spirit is as important as eating, drinking and exercising for our physical body. If we nurture our spirit, we will easily be restored to our original position and purpose.
You are specially made my child of God, in the image and likeness of God. That is why we celebrate you everyday, especially on the beginning of your New Life.
