Sowing A Seed

With the challenges of increasing standards of living, hard-to-maintain lifestyles, and different needs and preferences, the most natural thing to do would be to look out for yourself and, of course, ensure that you are able to provide for your family. However, it is common for us to find ourselves in situations where we want so badly to give to others, or to invest in a worthwhile cause, yet are unable to because we don’t know if we will be needing the same amount unexpectedly. We fear not being able to have sufficient resources for our own needs.

Is this a familiar scenario for you? Beloved, if your heart’s desire is to make an impact in the lives of others or help further God’s work in the world, do not fear lack for God is a God of abundance! He is a generous God and will supply all our needs for He wants to be known and experienced in our faith giving. When we sow a seed, it will be God Himself who will water it and cause it to grow and bear fruit, even multiplying it in ways that will surprise us!

Luke 6:38 says, “Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.” As we sow our seeds, as we courageously give to others and have faith that the Lord will multiply that seed and also generously provide for you who have given, we will experience the generosity of God in an awesome and powerful way! When it comes to the economy of God, true gain is found in loss – in giving sacrificially for the sake of His name and His work. The beauty of sowing a seed for the Lord is the joy of realizing soon after that what you have given is nothing compared to what you will gain in Him.
