Ezekiel 12:28 NIV
When you sit and reflect sometimes on the challenges that you have had to overcome or the hardships that you are still facing, you get a little discouraged right? You ask yourself, “When will this ever end?” Other times, things are going so well that you forget the pain of your struggles, but then all of a sudden you are faced with another test. The job you worked for so many years, you are next in line for a promotion but instead someone from the outside gets the position. The relationship you trusted in and committed your life to, you have been abandoned and lied to. But lift up your head because today we are breaking the spirit of delay. We are breaking the spirit that is trying to keep you down.
As you read the Bible verse John 6:7, the Word says:
“Philip answered him, ‘It would take more than half a year’s wages to buy enough bread for each one to have a bite!’”
While Philip (one of Jesus’ disciples) was worried about how to provide enough food for all of the people gathered there, Jesus already knew what He planned to do to solve the problem. Jesus had a miracle in mind, but He wanted to test Philip’s faith before setting that miracle in motion.
A miracle is a supernatural intervention of God in a crisis situation. In Genesis 22, we read the story of Abraham going to sacrifice his son Isaac to God. God stops him and provides a ram for the sacrifice. This is the first time we hear God referred to as Jehovah-Jireh, (yeer-eh) meaning “The Lord Provides.“
Hear me, every “test” that happens to you and me, God reveals Himself as our source of provision. Beloved, we have the definite promise of Jesus, so let us not fret. The culture we live in always feeds us with worry, doubt and fear about our future, but Jesus holds our future: “He asked this only to test him, for he already had in mind what he was going to do.” John 6:6
Any time a miracle is coming, it first comes with a test. The test is not to run you down but to simply jump-start your faith.
When the people were worried and didn’t see beyond reason and the sensory realm, Jesus had already installed what they needed. You might be going through a difficult time, but remember that Jesus has already made a provision for the outcome. Declare with me 3 times:
