“If then my people, upon whom my name has been pronounced, humble themselves and pray, and seek my face and turn from their evil ways, I will hear them from heaven and pardon their sins and heal their land.”
2 Chronicles 7:14
We need to face the truth that there are threats of terrorism on our country, millions of angry citizens, unemployment, poverty, lack of education, lack of safety and security, corruption and destruction of natural resources. We need prayers for our country. We need the Lord’s wisdom and blessings because we face difficult situations everyday in our lives. Although we have faced many difficult times in the past, let us allow our love of country and patriotism to rise up in us. Let us seek God’s face, be dedicated to our Lord, and pray.
We pray because, in our own wisdom and strength, we’re insufficient for the challenges we face. While one of the most appealing things about us is our unshakable positive fighting spirit, but the fact is, sometimes we “can’t do”! We have nowhere else to go, except to God and His Son, Jesus Christ. Kneeling before God in times of overwhelming crisis is also a part of our Christianity.
Remember this verse in Psalm 31,
21 Praise be to the Lord,
for he showed me the wonders of his love
when I was in a city under siege.
22 In my alarm I said,
“I am cut off from your sight!”
Yet you heard my cry for mercy
when I called to you for help.
23 Love the Lord, all his faithful people!
The Lord preserves those who are true to him,
but the proud he pays back in full.
24 Be strong and take heart,
all you who hope in the Lord.
We need to remember that this world ultimately belongs to God, who created all things and who, in Christ, is restoring all things.
