How to Be a Partner: Restoring Your Faith in God’s Work

In the kingdom of God, how to be a partner is a question that many believers ask. We are called to be active participants in God’s work, to join in His divine mission, and to support the advancement of His kingdom. By faith in Jesus Christ, each of us is invited to partner with God in the great ministry of love, reconciliation, and salvation. However, there are times when we lose focus on how to be a partner and stray from this divine calling. In this article, we will explore how to be a partner in God’s kingdom, how one may lose the focus, and how God in His mercy can help us regain it.

As I, Daniel Amoateng, reflect on my own journey in ministry, I sympathize deeply with those who feel they have lost their place in God’s service. Whether due to doubt, sin, or distractions, many believers can find themselves struggling to know how to be a partner in the work of the Lord. At Power of Worship International, I see many of you who need encouragement, restoration, and guidance. This article is for you, to help you restore your focus and walk confidently as a partner in the work of God.

The Importance of Knowing How to Be a Partner

To be a partner in God’s work is one of the most significant callings a believer can answer. How to be a partner is not just about supporting a church or ministry; it is about being an active participant in the body of Christ. Jesus Himself showed us how to be a partner in His mission, as He empowered His disciples to go into the world and preach the gospel (Matthew 28:19-20).

In 1 Corinthians 3:9, Paul declares, “For we are co-workers in God’s service; you are God’s field, God’s building.” This highlights that how to be a partner means being actively involved in God’s mission, using the gifts and talents He has given to help build His kingdom on earth. When we understand this calling, we realize that how to be a partner is not about personal ambition, but about serving God’s purpose and advancing His glory.

To be a partner in God’s work also means being part of a larger community—the body of believers. In 1 Corinthians 12:27, Paul writes, “Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it.” This partnership is not just for the strong or the gifted; it is for every believer. Whether in prayer, giving, serving, or sharing the gospel, we are all called to be a partner in God’s ministry.

Losing Focus on How to Be a Partner: A Biblical Example

At times, even the most faithful believers can lose their focus on how to be a partner in the ministry of God. One notable example from the Bible is the Apostle Peter. Peter, a committed disciple of Jesus, once struggled to remain steadfast in his partnership with Christ. In Matthew 14:29-31, when Peter walked on water toward Jesus, he became distracted by the wind and waves, and he began to sink. Jesus immediately reached out and saved him, saying, “You of little faith, why did you doubt?” (Matthew 14:31).

This story serves as a powerful reminder that how to be a partner in God’s work requires focus and faith. When we allow distractions, fears, or doubts to consume us, we can lose our way. But just as Jesus reached out to Peter, He is always ready to restore us to our partnership with Him.

Another example of losing focus on how to be a partner comes from the story of Judas Iscariot. Judas was one of Jesus’ original twelve disciples, called to partner in the ministry of God. However, his heart became divided by greed and betrayal, and he ultimately turned away from Jesus, leading to his tragic demise. This is a cautionary tale for all believers: it is possible to lose our focus on how to be a partner when we allow sin and selfishness to lead us astray.

Regaining Focus on How to Be a Partner

It is important to understand that losing our way in how to be a partner does not mean it is the end of the road. God is always willing to forgive, restore, and equip us to continue in His service. In Acts 9, we see the dramatic transformation of Saul, who was once a persecutor of Christians but was called by Jesus to be a partner in spreading the gospel. Saul’s encounter with Jesus on the road to Damascus changed his life forever, and he became known as the Apostle Paul, a powerful partner in ministry.

Like Saul, we too can regain our focus on how to be a partner when we return to Jesus in repentance and faith. In 1 John 1:9, we are assured that “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.” This promise is for all who have strayed from their calling, assuring us that God’s grace is available to restore us to partnership in His ministry.

To regain focus on how to be a partner, it is essential to rekindle your love for God and His people. Jesus told Peter in John 21:15-17 to feed His sheep, asking him three times, “Do you love me?” This moment of restoration was a call for Peter to reaffirm his commitment to Jesus and to His work. Just as Peter was restored, we too can be restored to our calling when we reaffirm our love for God and His mission.

Raised Standards in How to Be a Partner

When we understand how to be a partner in God’s work, it is important to raise the standard in our lives. God calls us to serve with excellence, integrity, and passion. In Colossians 3:23-24, we are instructed, “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward.” This means that how to be a partner is not about doing things halfway; it is about offering our best for God’s glory.

At Power of Worship International, I encourage every believer to raise the standard in their ministry. Whether through prayer, service, or giving, we must strive to offer our best to God. When we do so, we invite God’s blessing and favor, and we become effective partners in His work.
