The favour of God is not just a blessing but a divine endorsement that brings supernatural breakthrough and elevation in all aspects of life. To attract this favour, we must align ourselves with God’s principles and live according to His word.
Understanding God’s Favour
God’s favour is His kindness and preferential treatment that He bestows upon His children. It is the divine assistance that elevates us above our limitations and sets us apart for greatness. The Bible tells us in Psalm 5:12, “For You, O Lord, will bless the righteous; with favour You will surround him as with a shield.” This scripture highlights that God’s favour acts as a protective shield, safeguarding us from harm and ensuring our success.
Key Steps to Attract God’s Favour
- Seek a Personal Relationship with God
The foundation of attracting God’s favour lies in our relationship with Him. James 4:8 says, “Draw near to God and He will draw near to you.” This means we must spend time in prayer, worship, and the study of His word. Developing an intimate relationship with God allows us to understand His will and align our lives accordingly.
- Walk in Obedience
Obedience to God’s commandments is a critical factor in attracting His favour. Deuteronomy 28:1-2 promises, “Now it shall come to pass, if you diligently obey the voice of the Lord your God, to observe carefully all His commandments which I command you today, that the Lord your God will set you high above all nations of the earth. And all these blessings shall come upon you and overtake you.” When we live a life of obedience, we position ourselves to receive God’s abundant blessings.
- Demonstrate Faithfulness
Faithfulness in our walk with God and in our dealings with others attracts divine favour. In the parable of the talents (Matthew 25:14-30), Jesus commends the faithful servants who diligently used what was entrusted to them. He said, “Well done, good and faithful servant; you have been faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things.” Our faithfulness in small things prepares us for greater opportunities and blessings.
- Live a Life of Integrity
Integrity is a vital attribute that attracts God’s favour. Proverbs 11:3 states, “The integrity of the upright will guide them, but the perversity of the unfaithful will destroy them.” Living with integrity means being honest, trustworthy, and adhering to moral and ethical principles. When we live with integrity, we reflect God’s character and attract His favour.
- Show Kindness and Generosity
God’s favour is often extended to those who show kindness and generosity to others. Proverbs 19:17 says, “He who has pity on the poor lends to the Lord, and He will pay back what he has given.” Acts of kindness and generosity open doors for God’s favour to flow into our lives. By helping others, we align ourselves with God’s heart and invite His blessings.
Biblical Examples of God’s Favour
The Bible is filled with stories of individuals who experienced God’s favour. Joseph is one such example. Despite being sold into slavery by his brothers, Joseph remained faithful to God. His integrity and faithfulness led to his elevation as the second-in-command in Egypt (Genesis 41:39-41). Similarly, Esther found favour in the eyes of King Xerxes and was instrumental in saving her people from destruction (Esther 5:2).
